Kept pace with King Piccolo) | Relativistic (Even faster than before) Speed: Superhuman with Subsonic combat and reaction speed (In Chapter 2, Son Goku managed to react to and tag a pterodactyl, which can reach up to 67 miles per hour, 29.95 meters per second, in Chapter 3, Son Goku managed to evade a large bear that should have such speeds, Master Roshi mentions that even pre-training, Goku should be able to run 100 meters in 5 seconds or in other words 20 meters per second), Hypersonic+ combat speed as Oozaru (Can land hits on Grandpa Gohan) | Superhuman (Should be faster than before) with Supersonic+ combat speed (Can keep up with Nam and moved at such speeds in their fight), Hypersonic+ combat speed as Oozaru | Superhuman with Supersonic+ combat speed | Hypersonic+ (Faster than Tao) | At least Hypersonic+, possibly Sub-Relativistic+ (Comparable to Tenshinhan) | Relativistic (Faster than before. Fought evenly against and ultimately defeated Piccolo)
Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super have tried to capture the same kind of charm the original series had, without success. All previous abilities except for Transformation to (Oozaru Form) and Natural Weaponry (No longer has his Saiyan tail), Limited Resistance to Harsh Temperatures (Trained in the Room of Spirit and Time for one month, which has temperatures that range from -40☏ to 248☏), Pressure Point Strikes, Light Manipulation ( Can create flashes of light via Solar flare to blind opponents), Shockwaves Generation ( Can create powerful shockwaves via Kiai), FlightĪttack Potency: At least Small Building level (Can smash apart wood, crush boulders in his hands, destroy cars, and in chapter 3 he one-shotted a large bear), Large Building level as an Oozaru (Destroyed Pilaf's castle, killed Grandpa Gohan, who fought well against Post Red Ribbon Army saga Goku, who defeated Tao Pai Pai and far superior to General Blue) | At least Small Building level, possibly higher (Stronger than before), Large Building level as an Oozaru | Large Building level (Defeated General Blue, who survived his plane crashing into a mountain at high speeds) | At least Large Building level (Easily defeated Tao Pai Pai, who was much stronger than General Blue) | At least Large Building level, possibly Moon level (Fought on par with Tien) | Moon level (Comparable to King Piccolo, ultimately killing him by plowing through his torso) | Moon level (Surpassed Kami. (And honestly, is the most convincing redemption arc from Dragon Ball, along with the change of heart Tenshinhan had) Some people dismiss the series simply because of its whimsical nature, focusing mostly in the "serious" parts (Like the Frieza and Cell saga), but honestly being fun and whimsical is one of the biggest charms Dragon Ball as whole has, opposed to other, more dramatic fighting anime, including those series inspired by Dragon Ball. Piccolo's transition from villain to hero is not as good without having the chance of seeing how he firstly appeared in the series as the main antagonist. The emotional impact of the deaths of some characters in the first arc of Dragon Ball Z is largely connected with the original series. In Dragon Ball we are able to follow the very beginning of Goku's journey and how he meet his friends, and the way he kept improving himself as a fighter.
If I have started watching Dragon Ball Z without having seen Dragon Ball first (Like many fans from the United States did) I would have been completely lost, completely unable to follow the story and the way the characters interact. Very underrated to this very day, being often overlooked in order to focus on the events from Dragon Ball Z.But honestly, skipping Dragon Ball as a whole, if anything lessens all the enjoyement the sequel series could have. The first (and the best, in my opinion) Dragon Ball series.
